Workforce & Education
Mayor speaks with students
The purpose of the Workforce and Education Committee is to implement projects that partner the business community and educational institutions together to foster cooperation and interaction between business and education to ensure community needs are being met. The committee meets every other month at 3:30 pm at the Chamber. The 2016 Commitee Chair is Janet Hedgees, 3M Company. The Chamber staff liaison is Lisa Anderson.

The committee facilitates:

New Faculty Luncheon: This annual event welcomes the new area teachers and faculty from our local schools and colleges! Businesses sponsor a teacher and donate a goodie to show appreciation for our new teachers!

Youth Career Expo:  This annual event brings area Juniors & Seniors together with individuals of various occupations.  The presenters share with the students descriptions of their professionals, requirements, rewards, etc.

Youth Recognition: In 2010 and 2011, Aberdeen was named Top 100 Communities for Youth through Americas Promise Alliance! The committee collected data from various youth community organizations, as well as the school district to highlight the amazing community programs to keep our children engaged in school and the community!
